Institute Mission

The central mission of the Reischauer Institute consists of the following three goals, which are carried out through a variety of initiatives and activities:

[1] Promote and advance teaching and research that illuminate the study of Japan across fields, disciplines, and faculties of Harvard University.

[2] Cooperate with the Asia Center and other programs at Harvard to increase public understanding of Japan and Asia, both across the United States and around the world.

[3] Strengthen ties between Harvard University and Japan, and in turn enhance relations between the U.S. and Japan.
