The Edwin O. Reischauer Institute of Japanese Studies is located on the second floor of the Center for Government and International Studies (CGIS) South Building, which is easily accessible by public transportation, taxi, or personal car. Visitors are advised, however, that parking is scarce in the surrounding area; public transportation is highly recommended. The CGIS South Building is a 5- to 10-minute walk from Harvard Yard and Harvard Square on the Red Line.
There is metered parking all along Broadway, Cambridge, Kirkland, and Oxford Streets near the CGIS South Building. Paid Harvard parking is sometimes available in the nearby Broadway, Everett, and Oxford Garages, but a special visitor parking permit must be purchased in advance to use these facilities.
