"Extreme Cinema. The Action Documentaries of Kazuo Hara," presented by the Harvard Film Archive, was a respective of the works of Kazuo Hara (b. 1945), among the most vital, courageous, and controversial documentary filmmakers active today, known for a series of passionately confrontational films, which he called "action documentaries," made in close collaboration with a series of extraordinary activists and agitators. The HFA welcomed Director KAZUO HARA himself and his long-time producer SACHIKO KOBAYASHI to the cinematheque to introduce special screenings of Sennan Asbestos Disaster (2017) and Extreme Private Eros: Love Song 1974 (1974).
This film series was made possible in collaboration with Shisso Production, Inc. in association with Hisami Kuroiwa, with support from Museum of Modern Art, New York and the Reischauer Institute.
