Alexander Murphy awarded Pyle Prize by Journal of Japanese Studies
Alexander Murphy, Assistant Professor of Language, Literature and Culture at Clark University and 2024-25 RIJS Postdoctoral Fellow, has recently been awarded the Kenneth B. Pyle Prize for Best Article in the Journal of Japanese Studies in 2024. His essay, "The Voice of a Stranger: Rumor, Radio, and the Aurality of Difference in Interwar Japan," was commended for its "innovative approach to understanding aural communities through the interconnectedness of rumor and radio."
