David Odo, Director of Academic and Public Programs, Division Head and Research Curator at the Harvard Art Museums, recently published an article with the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum about Gardner's travel albums from a trip through Japan in 1883. In this article, Dr. Odo discusses what these photos, purchased from commercial studios and pasted into albums, reveal about global tourism in the 19th century.
