Melissa McCormick interviewed by Japan Foundation about Metropolitan Museum "Tale of Genji" Exhibition

Melissa McCormick (Andrew W. Mellon Professor of Japanese Art and Culture) was recently interviewed for an article, titled "American Scholar Revealed the Profound World of The Tale of Genji," by the Japan Foundation as part of a series of special stories in celebration of the foundation's 50th anniversary. Prof. McCormick, a two-time Japan Foundation Japanese Studies Fellow (1995 and 2013), co-curated The Tale of Genji: A Japanese Classic Illuminated, an exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum that showcased nearly 150 objects, including two National Treasures and nine Important Cultural Properties, among a variety of other media depicting scenes from The Tale of Genji.
