Victor Seow awarded 2025 Sarton Prize for the History of Science by American Academy of Arts and Sciences
Victor Seow, John L. Loeb Associate Professor of the Social Sciences, has been awarded the 2025 Sarton Prize for the History of Science by the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, which recognized his "exceptional promise and distinguished achievements as an emerging scholar in the field."
In their announcement, Prof. Seow was commended for his recent book Carbon Technocracy: Energy Regimes in Modern East Asia (University of Chicago Press, 2022). This book has also received several awards from various fields: the John Whitney Hall Book Prize (Association for Asian Studies), Academic Excellence Award (Chinese Historians in the United States), and the Michael H. Hunt Prize in International History (Society for Historians of American Foreign Relations).
