John M. Doyle receives 2025 William F. Meggers Award and elected to National Academy of Sciences

John M. Doyle, Henry B. Silsbee Professor of Physics, has recently been selected as the recipient of the William F. Meggers Award by Optica, Advancing Optics and Photonics Worldwide. He was honored for "developing pioneering methods enabling a broad range of spectroscopic studies, including cryogenic cooling of large molecules and radicals, novel probes of chirality, slow molecular beams, and laser cooling of large molecules."

In April 2025, Prof. Doyle was also elected to the National Academy of Sciences, a leading institution that recognizes "distinguished and continuing achievements in original research."

In partnership with the Reischauer Institute, Prof. Doyle has played an important role in establishing the Japan Summer Science Undergraduate Research Program (JSSURP). The Institute expresses its gratitude for his long-standing dedication to supporting undergraduates in connecting with Japan through summer research opportunities.
