テオドル・C・ベスター（ライシャワー日本研究所人類学教授、ライシャワー日本研究所所長）に、旭日中綬章が授与されました。旭日章は最も栄誉ある勲章の一つとされています。ベスター教授の日本研究における多大な実績と、長年にわたりアメリカ国内における学術的、教育的な日米交流の促進へ寄与した功績が認められ、今回の受章が決定しました。

In The End of Japanese Cinema, Alexander Zahlten moves film theory beyond the confines of film itself, attending to the emergence of new kinds of aesthetics, politics, temporalities, and understandings of film and media. He traces the evolution of a new media ecology through deep historical analyses of the Japanese film industry from the 1960s to the 2000s.
続きを読む所長テオドル・ベスター教授『Senior Scholar』賞を受賞
テオドル・ベスター教授が、アメリカ人類学会（American Anthropological Association）、Society of Urban, National, and Transnational Anthropology (SUNTA) より『Senior Scholar』賞を受賞しました。ベスター教授は過去にSUNTA（当時のSociety for Urban Anthropology）の所長を務めた経験もあります。1980年代の研究から築地市場の研究における、都市文化、市場文化、世界の物流の考察への多大なる貢献を認められ、このたびの受賞が決定しました。2017年12月にワシントンDCにて開催予定のアメリカ人類学会にて表彰式が行われます。
